Vladimir used to travel to Limassol to meet people and see its events. He and a colleague then asked a simpler question: why not invite people in Larnaca to sit by the beach, have a coffee or a beer and talk?
The early setting was Mackenzie beach, where aircraft pass low overhead. The idea was an informal meeting with common interests, rather than a highly produced conference. Vladimir describes himself as an introvert, and says another introvert’s story on Habr helped inspire him.
Trying ideas without losing the focus
Katerina asks about lightweight meetups where an ordinary developer could give a talk. Vladimir is open to trying ideas, but the basic attraction remains meeting people, exchanging contacts and talking in a comfortable place.
He does not want to turn the group into an organisation for everyone in Larnaca. Keeping IT and related interests at its centre helps make the invitation clear and keeps the project close to what he enjoys.
