Personal account: The guest’s experiences and opinions are attributed to the interview. The healthcare and tax notes below distinguish those experiences from current official rules.

Dmitry Motorov’s relocation experience

The publisher introduces Dmitry Motorov as an entrepreneur discussing his move and life in Cyprus. The video was uploaded on 7 November 2024 and runs 42 minutes 31 seconds.

In the published captions, Dmitry says he had lived in Cyprus for six years at the time of the recording. He describes being born in Leningrad, growing up in St Petersburg, working online and wanting a milder climate for his family. He recalls stays on Samui and considering Marbella, then choosing Cyprus after a visit in May 2018 and making friends there.

He says 95% of his own communication is in Russian. That is his personal estimate, rather than a figure for the island’s population or language use.

Healthcare and education in his account

Dmitry estimates his family’s additional insurance at about EUR 3,000 a year at the time of the interview. He describes choosing American Academy after visiting schools and preferring its atmosphere for his children. These are his family’s reported experience and choices, rather than a current insurance quotation or an assessment of every school.

Current healthcare note: The HIO service list includes inpatient care provided by contracted providers. Check beneficiary eligibility, the particular covered service and its access conditions. The interview’s insurance discussion does not establish a blanket exclusion for expensive operations. See our GeSY/private-care comparison and school comparison for further planning.

Tax discussion and current guidance

The publisher lists a chapter on tax benefits and IT companies. Its date matters when assessing the discussion.

Current non-dom note: The Tax Department’s guidance concerns domicile and tax-residence history. Birthplace alone does not establish entitlement. Deemed domicile applies after Cyprus tax residence in at least 17 of the 20 years immediately preceding the tax year. Non-dom concerns SDC; check income tax, GESY and any other applicable liabilities separately. See our non-dom guide before using the interview’s tax discussion for a decision.
