Short answer: Use the official payment service and the instructions on your notice. For offences in Schedules I, II and VI, current law provides a 50% increase after 90 days from service, with prosecution barred before 105 days from service. Identify the actual driver and seek clarification promptly if details are wrong.
How can I check a camera notice?
The camera-system search page asks for an identification method, identification number and vehicle plate. Its listed methods include company registration number, Cypriot ID, ARC, passport and foreign ID. The results table provides citation number and violation date/time.
The camera-system login asks for the incident/report number and access code from the printed notice. Use your own notice details; this guide does not test access to an individual’s records.
The government’s separate pending-camera-fine service page still describes offences recorded 1 January 2022–30 September 2024 and a payment window ending 31 March 2025. Treat that as a dated description, rather than the deadline for a new notice.
How do I pay?
Start at the government’s Payment of Fines service. It requires registration at JCC Smart and allows payment by credit card. Its current “Get Started” link is the Police payment page.
Read the notice and enter the details requested by the official payment service. Keep the payment confirmation. Section 7(4) of Law 47(I)/1997 recognises an electronically issued payment certificate as evidence of payment and out-of-court settlement without a signature.
If the notice was issued by a municipality, follow that issuer’s instructions. Section 7(1)(b) specifies the municipal office stated on the notice for a fine issued by a municipal traffic officer or representative. Ask the municipality about its current online arrangements instead of assuming the Police payment category applies.
Which payment clock applies?
Current section 6(3) of Law 47(I)/1997 gives these rules for offences in Schedules I, II and VI:
- If the notified person does not pay within 90 days from service of the notice, the fine increases by an amount equal to half the original fine.
- Prosecution cannot begin before 105 days from service.
The same section contains different general rules for other offence categories. Check the offence, statutory provision and service date on your notice rather than applying this clock to every kind of fine. Ask the issuing authority to clarify anything inconsistent before the stated deadline.
An increase for late payment is not a 50% early-payment discount. Check the current notice and applicable law before relying on a discount or payment clock.
What are the fixed speed-limit fine bands?
The current consolidated law links Schedule VI, which specifies these bands for a speed-limit offence:
| Deviation from the permitted speed limit | Fixed fine per kilometre |
|---|---|
| Up to 30% | EUR 2 |
| 31%–50% | EUR 3 |
| 51%–75% | EUR 5 |
These are percentage bands, not fixed amounts of kilometres per hour over the limit. Have the authority assess the particular offence and calculation on your notice, including cases outside these listed bands; this table is not a complete list of traffic penalties or licence consequences.
What changed for camera-recorded red-light offences?
The Police announcement of 6 March 2026 says the following distinctions took effect that day without retrospective effect at camera-controlled junctions:
| Recorded conduct | Fixed fine | Penalty points stated |
|---|---|---|
| Violation of the mandatory stop line at a camera-controlled junction | EUR 25 | Not specified in this announcement |
| Failure to comply with a red signal by entering the pedestrian crossing | EUR 85 | 3 |
| Entry beyond the pedestrian crossing | EUR 300 | 3 |
| Where there is no pedestrian crossing, entry beyond the white mandatory stop line into the junction | EUR 300 | 3 |
Match the alleged conduct and date to the actual notice. For your points record and possible licence consequences, ask the competent authority about the applicable offence and procedure rather than assuming a fixed automatic suspension from this table.
What if the details are wrong or payment fails?
The same Police announcement directs camera-system queries about an alleged offence, payment problems and the driver’s details at the time of the offence to the contractor on 80008009.
Keep the notice, the relevant dates and any evidence. Ask for the correct process for identifying the actual driver or disputing an error. Do not nominate someone simply to divide penalty points, assume an ARC number alone completes a change, or assume a mismatched payment screen will allocate points correctly.
If there is a court notice or an unresolved legal dispute, seek advice about your particular case. Do not ignore an old fine on the assumption that one year automatically cancels it, or rely on an anonymous promise that non-payment will lead to acquittal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I pay a Police fine online? The government’s Payment of Fines service links to JCC Smart. It requires JCC registration and allows credit-card payment. Follow the link and your notice’s payment instructions, then keep the receipt.
What is the payment deadline for the specified traffic offences? Section 6(3) of Law 47(I)/1997 applies to offences in Schedules I, II and VI: after ninety days from service of the notice, the unpaid fine increases by fifty percent; prosecution cannot begin before one hundred and five days from service. Check your notice and offence category. This is not a fifty-percent early-payment discount.
How are the fixed speeding fine bands expressed? The current law’s Schedule VI expresses bands as percentages of the permitted speed limit: up to thirty percent, EUR 2 per kilometre; thirty-one to fifty percent, EUR 3; fifty-one to seventy-five percent, EUR 5. They are not fixed bands of thirty or fifty kilometres per hour.
What if I disagree with a camera notice or was not the driver? The Police announcement of 6 March 2026 directs questions about camera offences, payment problems and driver details to the contractor on 80008009. Provide the actual facts and ask for the applicable process; do not treat points as something to redistribute between people.
