Short answer: Check your permit category before booking. A generic “migration package” does not establish that the tests, country of examination or doctor’s certification meet your application requirements.
The Migration Department publishes different supporting-document lists for different categories. Use the current checklist linked from your category’s official page and confirm any unclear requirement before paying for tests.
What does the visitor-permit checklist require?
The official visitor forms page links the visitor supporting-document checklist. For the first permit only, it lists:
- An original medical examination certificate of blood tests for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and syphilis.
- A chest X-ray for tuberculosis, with a doctor’s opinion.
- A stamp from a specialist doctor in the Republic of Cyprus.
This wording does not establish a universal requirement for certification at a government hospital. Ask the Migration Department which doctor’s certification is acceptable for your file. Use the dependent-child or other family-member checklist where applicable; do not apply the adult visitor checklist automatically to everyone.
What changed for Categories A–F in September 2026?
The Migration Department’s 25 June 2026 announcement applies to relevant applications submitted from 1 September 2026. In addition to the existing supporting documents, it requires:
- Original blood test results conducted abroad for the applicant and dependants, showing no hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV or syphilis.
- An original chest X-ray for tuberculosis screening, issued in the applicant’s country of origin and/or last country of lawful residence.
- Due certification or legalisation of those documents, unless a relevant bilateral intergovernmental agreement provides an exemption.
Existing-file exemption: these examinations need not be submitted again where the applicant already holds a Cyprus temporary residence permit under which the required examinations were submitted and their results remain in the relevant administrative file.
Do not substitute a Cyprus clinic package for this rule without confirmation from the Migration Department. For residence-permit routes, check the complete category requirements as well as this medical-document announcement.
How should I choose a clinic or laboratory?
Send the provider your exact checklist and ask for written confirmation of:
- Which blood tests, imaging and doctor’s report it can provide.
- Whether the required specialist’s stamp is included or needs a separate appointment.
- The itemised price, including radiology, the doctor’s opinion and any certification.
- Appointment availability, preparation instructions and the expected result date.
- The language and format of the results, and how to obtain originals.
Ask the receiving authority how recent the examinations must be and what translations or authentication it accepts. Do not rely on a general three-month or six-month validity estimate.
For an appointment with a State Health Services Organisation doctor, the SHSO FAQ says specialist appointments can be arranged by phone or through its website. It also says people who are not GHS beneficiaries can access SHSO services for a corresponding fee. Confirm that the specific hospital provides the certification you need and request its current charge and appointment instructions.
What should I check for children?
Ask the Migration Department for the child’s applicable checklist and ask the treating doctor which examination is appropriate. Do not choose a CT scan, chest X-ray or Mantoux test based on an anonymous report about another family’s visit. Confirm any permitted alternative and its documentation with the receiving authority before booking.
Can I use GeSY for these tests?
Confirm the payment route with the provider and HIO before booking an administrative examination. GeSY beneficiary eligibility and ordinary clinical access rules are separate from immigration-document requirements. See our healthcare guide for the beneficiary categories, registration and ordinary charges.
What practical steps should I take?
- Download the checklist for the exact applicant category and retain the version used.
- Confirm the examination location, certifying doctor, document language and required recency with the Migration Department.
- Get an itemised clinic quotation and arrange any separate certification appointment.
- Keep original reports, receipts and copies of what you submit.
- Confirm office hours and appointments directly with the provider; allow time for any additional examination or document correction.
