Short answer: Build a shortlist from the Ministry’s named school listings, then check the exact stage, language, programme, admission conditions and full quotation. The tables below group selected entries by district; a district includes suburbs and surrounding communities, not just the city centre.

This guide uses the Ministry’s school-directory page and its linked private-secondary directory and private-primary directory, checked on 3 October 2026. It is a selected starting list, not a ranking or a claim to cover every school.

The tables report the Ministry’s listed language of instruction for the secondary entry. Check actual language streams and subjects with the school; a summary directory does not establish every programme’s language, availability or admission requirements. Primary and pre-primary sections need separate checks.

Limassol district

Selected entries in the Ministry’s private-secondary directory:

Listed schoolListed secondary languageReference area in directory
The Island Private School of LimassolEnglishPalodia
SP Triada Private School (Trinity)EnglishLimassol district
Foley’s SchoolEnglishNikis Avenue, Limassol district
The Grammar School (Limassol)EnglishPanthea Hill
The Heritage Private SchoolEnglishPalodia
PASCAL Private Secondary School LemesosEnglishLimassol district
Morfosis Private SchoolRussianLimassol district
The Pupils of PythagorasRussianPafou Street, Limassol district
American Private SchoolEnglishLimassol district

For programme comparisons and links to the providers, see the private-school comparison. Confirm the campus you would attend before planning a commute.

Island’s provider page describes Montessori from pre-primary to Grade 4 and lists a Technology Leaders of the Future scholarship programme. Morfosis’s provider page describes a Russian-language school following Russian and Cypriot curricula with intensive English and Greek. Treat those as the providers’ descriptions and ask about your child’s proposed programme and qualification.

Nicosia district

Selected entries in the Ministry’s private-secondary directory:

Listed schoolListed secondary languageReference area in directory
American International School in Cyprus (AISC)EnglishLefkosia district
Angliki Scholi (The English School)EnglishLefkosia district
PASCAL Private Secondary School LefkosiaEnglishLakatamia
The American Academy NicosiaEnglishAgios Andreas
The G.C. School of CareersEnglishLefkosia district
ISN — International School of NicosiaEnglishLakatamia

The private-primary directory also contains named primary entries for AISC, PASCAL Lefkosia, American Academy Nicosia, G.C. School of Careers and ISN. Do not infer a specific starting age or an available place from a directory entry. Use the Ministry’s listed contact details if you cannot establish a provider’s current website.

Paphos district

Selected entries in the Ministry’s private-secondary directory:

Listed schoolListed secondary languageReference area in directory
The International School of PaphosEnglishAnavargos
Private British School AspireEnglishPafos district
Private School LumioEnglishAcheleia
The Learning Centre PeyiaEnglishPegeia

The private-primary directory includes primary entries for International School of Paphos, Aspire, Lumio and TLC. Ask the particular school about stages and qualifications rather than treating every school in the district as following one curriculum.

Larnaca district

Selected entries in the Ministry’s private-secondary directory:

Listed schoolListed secondary languageReference area in directory
American Academy LarnacaEnglishLarnaka district
PASCAL Private Secondary School LarnakaEnglishAradippou
Med HighEnglishLarnaka district

The private-primary directory lists American Academy Junior School Larnaca, PASCAL Larnaka and Med High Junior School. American Academy Larnaca’s senior curriculum describes GCSE/IGCSE study in Years 4–5 and A Levels in Years 6–7. Its name does not establish an American curriculum.

Which IB programmes are authorised?

Check the IB’s own directory for the particular school and programme:

SchoolProgrammes listed by the IB
IslandPYP, MYP, DP and CP
TrinityMYP and DP
PASCAL secondary schools in Lefkosia, Larnaka and LemesosDP at each named secondary school
American International School in CyprusDP
Lumio Private SchoolMYP and DP

The IB’s Trinity record gives DP authorisation as 13 March 2026, and lists English for DP and English and Russian for MYP. That programme-specific information is more precise than a single language column for the whole school. Confirm the exact stage and stream.

How much should I budget?

Ask each shortlisted provider for a dated fee schedule and written quotation for the same academic year, campus and stage. Check registration, deposits, tuition, books, uniforms, examinations, meals, transport, support, activities and any boarding costs. Ask which charges are compulsory and what happens if you withdraw or transfer.

One concrete example is PASCAL Lefkosia Secondary School’s 2026–2027 schedule, updated on 15 December 2025: Year 1 annual tuition is €9,300, and its Year 1 corresponds to UK Year 7. The schedule excludes uniforms, books except those provided free by the Ministry, transport and participation in activities such as competitions and conferences. External examination fees other than GL Assessment are separate. Read its complete compulsory and optional charges and terms.

This example is not a price for all PASCAL pupils or a national minimum or maximum. PASCAL’s fee page links separate schedules by campus and level. Island’s fee page links its Palodia 2026–2027 schedule and says displayed tuition includes a 30% discount until the permanent campus is ready; confirm the applicable offer before budgeting.

When and how should I apply?

Private-school dates and requirements should be checked with the named provider. Ask which identity, previous-school, language, health and other documents it requires, and whether any translation or certification is necessary. Confirm assessment, interviews, deposits and available places before withdrawing from another school.

For public primary schooling, the Ministry’s registration information describes January registrations on dates announced annually and registration in the pupil’s educational region. It sets separate conditions for transfers and relocation. See the education guide for details rather than applying a generic private-school calendar to public registration.

For residence-permit documentation, identify the child’s actual category and check its current checklist separately. See the education guide and residence-permit guide; a school place alone does not establish immigration permission.

What public and pre-primary options should I check?

The Ministry’s primary-school information states that public primary attendance is free and compulsory for resident children of all nationalities, regardless of immigration status. Ask the school about the appropriate region, grade and support for your child.

For 2026–2027, compulsory pre-primary starts at 4 years and 4 months reached before 1 September. Younger children aged at least three before 1 September may apply, subject to remaining places and selection criteria. The Ministry says public pre-primary education is free, while community pre-primary schools set their own fees.

What about universities?

Use the Department of Higher Education’s institutions page to identify institutions, then check the particular programme’s admission, language, accreditation and fee conditions. Do not extend a school-fee example to university study or assume nationality alone makes every public-university programme free.

Frequently asked questions

How much do international schools cost in Cyprus?

Request the fee schedule for the particular school, campus, stage and year. As one dated example, PASCAL Lefkosia Secondary School lists 2026–2027 Year 1 tuition of €9,300, with additional charges and exclusions. This is not a national fee range.

What schools are available for expat children in Limassol?

The Ministry’s Limassol district secondary directory includes Island, SP Triada (Trinity), Foley’s, Heritage, Grammar School, PASCAL, Morfosis and Pupils of Pythagoras. These are directory listings, not confirmation of an available place or the programme appropriate for your child.

When should I apply for schools in Cyprus?

Ask each private school for its current intake dates, assessment process and available places. Public primary registrations normally take place in January on annually announced dates; relocation and transfers have separate conditions. Do not apply one private-school deadline to every provider.
